ID'd 1st Infantry Division Uniform Group

Description

WWI uniform group belonging to Lt. John H. Feigel, Company F, 1st Engineers, 1st Division. It took me a while to track him down but he is listed in the Buffalo and Erie County in the World War history (1920). It also says that he was wounded in action on Oct. 16, 1918. Group includes his tunic, which has his name in it. No label and only the US collar insignia remaining. Has some moth bites/holes but overall OK. You can see where the now-absent 1st Division patch was once sewn to the shoulder. It also has an overseas stripe and a wound stripe. I think the tunic is foreign/overseas made. There are also a pair (very rough) of officer's leather leggings, a private purchase haversack of some type, some photos, a Testament, an Engineers field manual with his name in it, his helmet (rusty and lacking liner/strap), a captured Imperial German belt buckle, a key, some boot hobnails, a wartime Buffalo newspaper, and the remnants of a booklet. There were some other Buffalo newspapers and clippings but they had some dried and tattered that I had to bin them.  Group includes his suitcase/trunk that you see in the pics.
