    Description

    Currently available is this M-1917 Overcoat with 78th Infantry Division Patch.  Known as the "Lightning Division", the 78th Infantry Division was formed at Fort Dix, New Jersey in August, 1917.  The division would arrive in France in May, 1918 and participate in the St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne offensive and Lorraine offensives finally being returned to the U.S. and demobilized in June, 1919.  This double breasted model 1917 overcoat is made of heavy wool fitting a 44" (111.7 cm) chest, 18" (45.7 cm) sleeve length and a 44" (111.7 cm) overall length with an eight button double breasted front, button adjustable cuffs, half belt back and two slash pockets with a 78th ID patch sewn on the upper left sleeve.  This overcoat is in good used condition with some mothing from age.
